Refinished Dining Room Table

I am finally done with refinishing my dining room table!  This is the second time I have refinished this same table.  Back in Sept 2011, I painted it all white - http://herronsweethome.blogspot.com/2011/09/diy-white-tables-chairs.html

This time I wanted to mix dark wood with retro industrial chairs.  I got rid of the rattan chairs that goes with the table and I picked up 4 chairs at the Habitat Store for only $5 each and I am planning on re-upholstering the chairs with some patterned fabric with lots of color.   Notice that one of the chair is different?  Haha I need to redo the top of the other chair to make it the same size as the other chairs.

This supposedly 3 day project ended up being a 2 week endeavor.  First I will blame the weather as it has been constantly raining over the last two weeks.  Then we had the fallen tree fiasco last week (which I will have to write about on another blog) which kept me from finishing up soon.

Anyway,  I love loveee the result!  Here is the before and after photo of the table. Tell me what you think?

DIY Coffee Table made from Shipping Palettes

I am finally done with my new DIY coffee table, yay!  It only took a week to get it done and lots of sanding and sealing.  I am so happy with how it turned out!

I got the inspiration from Jillian Harris Design.  She painted hers white but I like to have a wood color because my next project is to paint my TV console table a pop of color.  Hers is beautiful too!

Other than her design, I have a collection of inspiration here in my pinterest board - http://pinterest.com/herronsweethome/diy-pallets-inspiration/

making dyed easter eggs for Easter 2013

Happy Easter!  It's Apollo's first time to make easter eggs.  Last year he is still too small but this year we let him get dirty and have fun!  I got the idea from this blog Her View From Home where she used shaving cream and some food coloring (I used icing coloring) to make the marbled effect on the eggs.  Plus I figured Apollo is still too small to use paint and a paint brush (maybe next year) to paint the eggs.  Mine didn't totally turn out like the one she made because I did not mix up a lot of colors but I think they still look great!

Superbowl Party at 528

This is the first time we had a superbowl party at home.  Joey loves football but not a die-hard fan.  I enjoy watching it, more for entertainment, to watch the commercials and of course the half-time show and just to hang out with friends..  My husband enjoys watching the game too but not a fanatic.  Well, we had a great time!  Invited some neighbors/friends over to watch the game, put on some simple festive superbowl decorations, threw a few stuff to snack on,  while watching the game and just pretty much have a good time.  Funny thing is the rest of our friends love watching the game but are not die-hard football fans either so...

Inspiration for DIY pillow

So my next project is to make fun, colorful DIY pillows for our humungous couch.  I actually got this almost brand new for a steal and its the most amazing, comfortable and biggest couch I have ever owned.  But its dark chocolate brown and 9 feet long. so I think it needs a little bit of TLC n the form of awesome pillows!

I have seen so many amazing pillow designs that I wanted to replicate for my couch. Considering that its dark, I need some pop of bright and definitely colorful and fun designs.

I am addicted to typography right now and I have these few samples that I will get some inspiration from. I have numerous conflicting ideas but I definitely would start with several typography designs and add some punches flowers and silly grins to brighten up my concept for my pillows even more lol.

DIY - denim wreath

I finally finished the wreath that I wanted to make for our bland white door.  I drew inspiration from the denim wreath made by another blogger and it looks awesome (The Anxious Blogger) !  It looks great and hip and young so I decided to give it a stab because I have around 2-3 denim jeans that are unfortunately about 3 sizes smaller on my now haha.

DIY - white tables & chairs

On top of taking care of my little cherubin, I have also been busy re purposing some of our old furniture by giving them a fresh coat of white paint.   Everyone seems to be doing these modern traditional take on black and white furniture so I thought why not join the bandwagon!  I've been looking at several different inspiration and i am drawn to the distressed white look. It looks antique without being scrappy.  I love it!
